From Pumpkins to Palm Trees...

Let’s start off by saying, never in a million years would I have thought I would be where I am today. But I guess that’s how it always happens, right? So I suppose now would be a good time to tell you a little about myself...Hello there, my name is Sarah Ann Chambers. I grew up in a small Midwest town called Morton, Illinois whose claim to fame is that it is the Pumpkin Capital of the World…yes, the WORLD, people. Every year they have a Pumpkin Festival, which consists of a week full of pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin chuckin contests (look it up), carnival rides, and people flocking from all over the state. It was pretty much the highlight of my year for…well the whole 18 years I lived there. Needless to say, after high school, I decided that it was time to get out. I knew that if I didn’t leave now, it would never happen, so…I applied to Arizona State University. Completely random. Well, not only did I get in but I got an academic scholarship, which of course, I just KNEW was a sign that I was destined to move to the desert, so I packed up my things and moved across the country without knowing a single person. Talk about balls-y, right? Long story short, I had the time of my life in college and graduated with a Marketing degree from ASU’s (oh-so prestigious) Business School with honors. Go me. Well, with all the hype over graduating and finally being done with school, I failed to start thinking about how I actually wanted to use my degree. And on top of it, it just so happened that I was graduating smack dab in the middle of what they claim to be “the worst economic recession since the Great Depression”. Figures, right? All that “hard work” in college and now there’s nowhere for me to apply it? So…being the motivated, driven woman I am, I started applying for jobs that I was completely overqualified for since there was no other work for us poor recent college grads. And after a few months of searching, I was able to land a dead-end job as a Booking Manager at a Promotional Modeling Agency. Random, I know. But with the way the economy was looking, I happily took the job. Not once in my 8ish months of working there did I use my degree, which really started to bother me, so….I quit. Back to square one. For a few months, I worked some part time jobs until I finally found my calling…..(drum roll please)…..SOCIAL MEDIA. Thanks to a wonderful woman by the name of Hallie and her recommendation, I landed a job as a Social Media Intern at Knoodle, an Advertising and PR Agency in Phoenix. I was always a Facebook and Twitter addict, and over the years had developed into a social butterfly, so naturally I was head over heels with the idea that this could actually be a JOB. So, that’s where I am today. With the help of Paige, Knoodle’s Social Media Director, I have developed into what we at Knoodle call a “social media geek”, and I haven’t looked back since. I’m so excited to see where this job takes me, and even more excited to have finally found my niche. So that’s me in a nutshell. In my blog, I will discuss all things social (social media, my social life, relationships, awkward moments...you get the picture), random thoughts, and being the music junkie I am..I’m sure I’ll throw in some music videos and recommendations here and there. Hope you enjoy it!
